14 Unknown, Monumental Inscriptions of All Saints Church, Milton Keynes, Bucks (Unpublished work by unknown researcher deposited in the Milton Keynes Local Studies and Family History Library circa 1989). The Memory of... Martha Abbott... wife of... Jonathan Abbott... who died Nov 29: 1775... aged 70 years. All the Abbott graves are situated on the west side of the Church more or less against its west wall. By 2003 few gravestones remain readable and those that do, are not those of Jonathan and Martha or their respective son and daughter. There is one gravestone amongst them which vaguely shows the outline of the name "Martha" but whether this marks the grave of Martha Abbott, senior, or her granddaughter of the same name, it is impossible to tell. The picture shows this stone. This record of the inscriptions on the gravestones in the churchyard of All Saints, Milton Keynes was probably made about 1946 because the last gravestone to be recorded was for a burial in February 1946. Unfortunately, there is no record of the author/s or any other form of identification.

The 18th century and many of the 19th century gravestones in this churchyard are now (2003) unreadable being of softish sandstone which has deteriorated considerably over the years. Some of the more sheltered gravestones can be read but none that are of relevance to this compiler's forebears.

37 Unknown, Monumental Inscriptions of All Saints Church, Milton Keynes, Bucks (Unpublished work by unknown researcher deposited in the Milton Keynes Local Studies and Family History Library circa 1989). The recorded inscription leaves out the day in January on which Catharine died. However, the index provided by the compiler of the inscriptions gives the day as the fifth of January which tallys well with Catharine's date of burial.

42 Ibid, Parish Register of St Andrew's Church, Great Linford — Burials 1763. Buried: Joseph Lancaster Dairyman of the Parish of Little Linford Febry. 7th [1764]. The entry for this burial falls in a section of the Register marked "1763" but the incumbent still appears to be using the Gregorian calendar for determining the end of a year; the sequence of the entries indicates that the year should be 1764 under the Julian calendar then in operation.

50 Unknown, Monumental Inscriptions of All Saints Church, Milton Keynes, Bucks (Unpublished work by unknown researcher deposited in the Milton Keynes Local Studies and Family History Library circa 1989), Recorded as being inscribed on Jonathan Abbott senior's gravestone. According to the parish register Elizabeth Abbott was buried in 1766 and it was not until 1771 that Jonathan Abbott senior died. Perhaps because Elizabeth was a very small baby no memorial was erected to her when she was buried but later her memoriam was recorded on her grandfather's gravestone.

56 Unknown, Monumental Inscriptions of All Saints Church, Milton Keynes, Bucks (Unpublished work by unknown researcher deposited in the Milton Keynes Local Studies and Family History Library circa 1989), Recorded as being inscribed on her father's, Jonathan Abbott's, gravestone. Also of... Ann... Daughter of... Jonathan and Elizabeth Abbott who Died in her infancy. Jonathan and Elizabeth Abbott had three daughters who are all recorded as being buried in All Saints Churchyard. They had no daughter called Ann but they did have one called Suzanna whom they may have referred to as Ann which may account for this inscription. Alternatively, it may be that part of the inscription was obscure and the recorder of it in 1946 only deciphered the Ann part.
